Remember when being a teacher was a sustainable path into becoming part of the middle class? Because I remember. Now it feels like corporate greed has left teachers to struggle.
I think being a teacher should be paid better than being a tech bro. Lord knows they contribute more to society.
I’m not a writer as a cash grab, I grab cash (aka work a 9-5) so that I can write.
Why would I care about being “left behind” by AI?
Making real a full world with nothing but words is something I would never outsource. What would be the point?

Second Chance Sunday! In which I reblog an old post I’m proud of! The first of my original stories: The Stag. In which we must ask, if something is begging you for help, do you help, even if it is dangerous? You know what MY answer would be. #scs #writers
I hate not being able to clone myself.
Not for fun things, but because work often demands me do more than one person can do in a short amount of time, and my inner chronic people pleaser is pissed off that the laws of physics mean that there is nothing I can do not to disappoint at least one person
Reese and Sandra are trying to tell me to get on the AI train or get left behind?
…casually slides MIT study across the table… ๐

Such a brilliant take-down. And goes for the ‘Dog Kid University’ reboot as well. I do and I always will stand with trans people.

I got my ADHD diagnosis only a few years ago, and I’m realizing more and more that the “forgetting details”, “not being able to keep track of time”, etc… that I used to beat myself up over are symptoms of ADHD.
It’s cruel to think about all the self-doubt I could have avoided if I knew earlier ๐ฅฒ
We’re never too old to discover new things about ourselves!
For instance, apparently I love old school murder mystery shows. And PBS has over 10 seasons of Poirot for me?!?! GOLD MINE!
Anyone who is dumb enough to say that arts don’t inform STEM have never been faced with writing science proposals and realizing just how CLEAR they can communicate now simply because it’s harder to do well in fiction.
My creative writing has significantly improved my science writing #writing
I keep thinking about B&N and D2D… I wonder, if I were to design a system that supported human authors in the age of AI sloppers, how could I do it?
How do you make a system that’s hard to cheat? How do you elevate the human-made work? How do you not slam the door to aspiring human writers?
Did y’all know that even if you can’t buy a book, you can put in a purchase request for that book at your local library?
If they accept your request, you both feel like you have a superpower AND now you can read that book, all while helping the author! Bc libraries are the GOAT.

Do you think you can tell someone who is an auditory processor of written language from a visual processor based on whether they move their lips when they read words?
(says me while noticing I’m almost to the point of mumbling out the work proposal I’m currently reading)
I’m a picky eater about #books. I have concrete but hard to define preferences for what I like and dislike. Please don’t make me try.
This is also VERY different from having high standards. I love pho and hate tomatoes, regardless of quality. My taste in books is like that too.
How about you?
Kobo rejected 45% of submissions to its self-publishing platform because they were AI-genned. (and that’s just what they rejected).
It’s TOUGH to be a writer right now ๐ญ

I find myself fixating on Steampunk. It’s a genre derived from imagining a future through the lens of the industrial revolution, but does that require it be stuck in the Victorian era?
I think with enough imagination you can transcend the time period, but it would and does take extra work. #writing
Second Chance Sunday! In which I reblog an old post I’m proud of! This is the one that got Meta to accuse me of being a bot. Which is ironic almost to the point of funny, given the #antiai metaphor therein. #scs
Me remembering that Hans Christian Andersen was once found by Dickens’s daughter in the fetal position crying over a negative review of his book. Writers are absolutely allowed to be sensitive in the face of feedback! We are allowed to hurt when the feedback hurts. #writing
Sitting in a self-editing talk by the effervescent Jean Burgess. (This is one of the things I adore in-person writing groups). Community through writing, learning something, and getting free cookies to boot โฅ๏ธ #writingcommunity #writers #MDwriters
Do I like a good royalty story as much as the next person? Sure! But in this our year of 2026, I think we can say the reality of royalty falls light years short of the fantasy. My new blog is up! #fantasy #writers #writingcommunity
I think the thing that creeps me out the most is that it can tell you the right answer, then you can query the exact same thing and get the wrong answer. #antiAI
